June 16th is Bee Day at the Market!

June 11, 2012

The Morton Grove Farmers’ Market will take place rain or shine*

with 25% MORE VENDORS at our NEW LOCATION

at 6210 Dempster St. from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

June 16th is BEE DAY!

Come see bees in their hives and watch a honey extraction demonstration by Bee Keeper John Bailey!

Our featured vendor of the week is John Bailey Honey.  John Bailey, the market’s own bee keeper, will bring his bees and a slice of their hive to view in an enclosed clear case.  Shoppers can see and learn first hand how their honey is made. This safe demonstration will also have John extruding honey from the combs and answering questions from the audience.  In addition to the honey extraction demonstration, check out his booth for fresh local honey, handmade beeswax candles, honeycombs, honey sticks, and Bee themed jewelry.

JoyNPure‘s Honey Nut Snacks are sweetened with honey, without any refined sugar or added salt.  Many of LAZ Cosmetics products are made with the beeswax from John Bailey’s honey bees!

The Market will be open from 8:00 am – 12 noon with Bee Themed Story Time and Bee-autiful Bee Crafts at the Kiddie Corner starting at 9:00 am.

Be sure to stop by the Welcome Booth to enter the raffle for your chance to win a reusable Farmers’ Market bag filled with a variety of Market goodies.  If you have a smartphone, check in on facebook or foursquare – the first 25 check ins shown to the Welcome Booth volunteers will receive a free reusable tote bag.  (Limit one free bag per person, per week please.)

Wild Onion String Band will provide musical entertainment.

Our Community Groups of the week will be the MG Community Relations Commission and RESULTS.  RESULTS representatives will bring fact sheets and brochures about US poverty relating to nutrition and hunger.  They will also give people the opportunity to write letters to Congress on whatever topic they wish.

At our Sponsor table will be MB Financial Bank.

Additional parking for the Market is located in the MB Financial Bank South lot, the American Legion Civic Center lot, the Morton Grove Historical Museum lot, the Harrer Pool / Park parking lots (both East and West of the Pool).  Please use extra caution while traveling through the Market area.

Special thanks to last week’s market participants:  all of our wonderful vendors, especially our featured vendor Buttercream by Julianna, musician Steve Justman, and the Niles Township Schools’ ELL Parent Center.

Thank you to Trib Local Morton Grove and Niles-Morton Grove Patch for allowing us to share our articles every week.  Don’t forget to like and share the ones you enjoyed!
