The Morton Grove Farmers’ Market will host its first-ever Winter Market this Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 am to 2 pm, indoors at the American Legion Memorial Civic Center (6140 Dempster St.) in Morton Grove.
Many of the regular market vendors and an assortment of new vendors will be on hand with foods, drinks, gifts and hand-made products. Available that day will be holiday-oriented items, gift baskets, wreaths and boughs, candles, baked goods, meats and free-range eggs, salsas, organic flour, cheeses, nut butters, fudge, granola, hand-made crafts, body-care products, jewelry, greeting cards, ornaments and much more.
Lunch items will also be available, including samosas and naan from Tava Indian Restaurant and sandwiches from Subway Morton Grove. Free admission, free parking and free children’s crafts will all be part of the Winter Market. Two musical groups will be performing, Luz Eco and Honky Tonk Parade, both popular acts from the regular season market.
Vendors at the Winter Market include Albo Acres (yarn, alpaca wool products), Benhart Farm (eggs, meats), DiPPED (gourmet chocolate creations, granola, savory nuts), John Bailey Honey (honeys, candles, jewelry, holiday wreaths, boughs), Joy n Pure (honey nut snacks and gourmet granola), LAZ Cosmetics (natural skin care products), Le Flour Bakery (fresh breads and pastries), Lyons Fruit Farm (caramel apples, produce), Maier’s Bakery (fresh breads, pastries, cookies), Super Cup Coffee (coffee, cider), Tava Indian Restaurant (samosas, naan, appetizers), Three Olives and a Ball of Yarn (crocheted items), Bread from the Heart (gluten free items, cheeses, flours, vanilla sugar), Food Stuffs of Glenview (baskets, jarred foods), Futters Nut Butters, Global Handmade Hope (international fairly traded gifts), Brian Kabat Photography (holiday cards, photo prints), and Tomato Mountain (organic salsas, sauces).
The Farmers’ Market is also excited to announce its new location starting in Spring 2012 right next door to the Civic Center at 6210 Dempster St. The Morton Grove Park District has offered to host the Market at its recently purchased property at the old MB Bank drive-thru parking lot.
Market Manager Laura Frisch is pleased at this change, saying “While we are so grateful to the previous hosts at Illinois Bone and Joint Institute for providing us with a place to get our market started, this new location is more amenable to a Farmers’ Market, with parks, Harrer Pool, the Historical Museum and the Civic Center all surrounding the Market.”
She went on to say that neighbors will be able to walk or bike safely to the Market and parking is plentiful both around the parking lot as well as across the street at the back lot of MB Bank. Volunteers are always needed to help set up and run the Market, so please contact Kristina Otte if you are interested in helping (allmanagers@mgfarmersmarket.com).
Check the Market’s website at www.mgfarmersmarket.com or its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MGFarmersMarket) for more information about the Winter Market or the 2012 Market season.

Congratulations on a successful Winter Market! Really enjoyed the variety of vendors; so many great gift items that were available for purchase. Hope you will consider an early Spring Market just before the Easter/Passover holidays.
Thank you for coming to the Winter Market, Trustee Toth! We were so happy with the turnout – over 500 people! Our vendors and shoppers were very pleased as well.
Our Spring Market is planned for May 12th, the day before Mother’s Day. It will be outdoors at our new location: 6210 Dempster St, Morton Grove, IL. Hope to see you there!
