Notes from the Market Manager
A big week for the MGFM!First, we just found out that we will receive a federal grant that will enable us to accept LINK / SNAP / EBT as well as debit and credit cards at the Market soon! We have a lot of research and training to do, we hope to have everything up and running by 2013!
Last week, two of our market managers visited a couple farms that participate at our market, Red Barn Farm in Woodstock, IL and Providence Farm outside of Belvidere, IL. They got to see how much is growing despite the impact of the drought on the farms and really get to know our farmers. It’s what this is all about: connecting with each other, with our food, with our friends.
Join us for the next farm visit! Let us know if you’re interested. We make sure to visit our farms as often as we can. Find out where that amazing corn comes from. Help the farmers wash garlic, like Laura and her kids did. So much to do, so much to experience!

Finally, please help push us into the TOP 5 Favorite Farmers’ Markets in Illinois! Click here and VOTE for the Morton Grove Farmers’ Market in American Farmland Trust’s America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest!
Thanks!
